Claudia Cardozo Yusti
Claudia Cardozo Yusti obtained her Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the Universidad de Carabobo (Venezuela), after doing her undergraduate research work at the Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Científicas (IVIC) in the transition metals chemistry laboratory. She obtained a Master degree in Science - Chemistry, from the Universidad de Los Andes (Colombia), working in the field of bioinorganic chemistry, specifically obtaining potentially anticancer copper and zinc complexes to test their biological action in zebrafish and cancer cells.
She carried out her PhD research project at IMDEA Nanociencia under the supervision of Dr. Ana Pizarro, funded by the Spanish Ministry under the FPI programme. Her work focused on obtaining potent anticancer Ru(II) and Os(II) complexes, designed to be activated only within the tumor cell, leading to its death. She will defend her thesis at the end of the year.
